The clients purchased a traditional builder’s home in East Hampton for weekend getaways. The renovation focused on modernizing the style while simplifying circulation and spatial flow. The original double-height entry, with its heavy, multi-angled ceiling and traditional staircase, was completely reconfigured to create a cleaner, more open arrival experience.
The kitchen and bathrooms were fully remodeled with an ergonomic design and all new plumbing, appliances, millwork and finishes, while the living and dining areas, along with the primary suite, were redesigned to incorporate built-in storage and sliding doors that enhance circulation.
Throughout the home, we introduced opportunities to highlight the client’s collection of hand-turned wooden and ceramic bowls. A custom see-through shelf gently separates the vestibule from the dining area while showcasing the pieces.
On the exterior, the front façade was reimagined with a contemporary, asymmetrical interpretation of the classic builder’s portico, while new energy-efficient windows provide a minimal, modern update.
